#3: City Chic

While roaming the beautiful 5th Avenue, just around lunch time on the corner of 57th, it was easy to spot some key pieces that were trending this season.  There is of course the obvious fur-mania, which is absolutely the biggest trend I have seen on this side of the city.  Fur vests, fur hats, fur jackets, you name it, I saw it.  I really do love this trend, but what I found to be even more interesting was the amount of different styled jackets and coats.  Since it is still pretty cold out, people were sporting their winter items; however, I was really drawn to the way a jacket could be such a statement piece.  Even in the cold weather, we see New Yorkers dressing up their winter apparel finding new ways to stand out and be trendy. These stylin' jackets are not your ordinary peacoat or puffer; these are truly unique jackets.  I noticed more tailored jackets, jackets with pleating, jackets with capes, color blocked jackets, and even bright colored jackets.

I just love the detailing on this jacket, plus the color is just so different.  Definitely makes a statement in the winter!

Scarf Lessons

Ugh winter has finally come our way today in February, just when I couldn't be more excited for spring and the fabulous styles.  Spring dresses and bright colors I long for you.  However, today was definitely a scarf day.  I really got into scarves when I studied abroad in Paris this past summer.  The Parisian style is so effortless and chic.  They know how to work one simple piece, dressing it up with great accessories.  A scarf is a perfect way to dress up your outfit, especially on a cold day like today.  If you're bored of the same old scarf and tying routine, mix it up! I found this great video that shows you 25 different ways to tie a scarf in just 4.5 minutes.  Who knew there are so many ways?!

#2: Fall 2012 Trend Watch

It's all about spiced wine! This is the fall must have color and definitely a trend to try out.

Straight from the Fall 2012 runway, in the first few days alone, this color has made a strong appearance.

Peter Som showcased his line, featuring a lot of Post-Labor Day whites, but added this pop of color in this beautiful silk dress.  The deep red, zip front dress also has another popular trend, a peplum. So vintage and cute!

Jason Wu has been all over these past few weeks, making his debut in Target.  His new line was so popular it caused the site to crash! On the runway he showed us many different looks but used this rusty red in this chic cape for a perfect outerwear pick for Fall.

Kimberly Ovitz also used a variation of the spiced wine color, giving her asymmetrical dress a velvety, burgundy feel.

I absolutely love this look from Rag and Bone.  As always they perfect the layering look, which is great for Fall. The cropped jacket, along with all her accessories fit right into the wine hue family.

Check out this video of Peter Som's Fall/ Winter 2012/2013 show, you'll love it!

#1: Fashion Blogs To Check Out

The Sartorialist takes great looks right from the streets in cities all over the world!  This one was taken straight from our New York city streets, Spring Street.

I really like Fashionising.  I have been reading this blog for a while now.  They are good because they show you the latest trends, editorial fashion shoots, and just capture the every day city chic along with some stylin' celebs.

ZsaZsaLu uses mood boards to inspire us all on the perfect outfit for the perfect time.  I am definitely into mood boards to figure out the direction of trends to make the right fashion decisions.

Red and Nude- a color trend to keep an eye on.  It's totally French and sexy!
